These homemade waffles are light, fluffy, and perfect for slow mornings or quick breakfasts. They come together with simple pantry ingredients and can easily be customized with optional add ins like chocolate chips, berries, or cinnamon.
For this batch, I used a mini waffle maker with heart insert plates and added in chocolate chips.



In one bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, butter or oil, and vanilla.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
Fold in chocolate chips or other add ins if desired.
Pour batter into the waffle maker and cook until golden brown and crisp.
